Current Activities
We are embarking on a noble venture to build a Masjid in Silvertown that will stand as a testament to the unity, strength, and generosity of our community. Silvertown is an underserved area with a Muslim population that lacks easy access to an Masjid and its services. As someone who shares this concern, your support and contribution can make a significant impact in making this dream a reality.
Alḥamdulillah, we have signed an Offer to Purchase a premises in Durant Road, Silvertown for the establishment of the Masjid. The amount of R1,25 million is still outstanding to purchase this property.
Our Need
SICA is currently conducting its affairs from a rented premises. The need for a permanent premises has now become unavoidable and necessary for the following reasons:
- The current premises is rented, and thus by its nature, not permanent.
- There has been a steady increase in worshippers and a bigger premises is needed.
- The distance to the closest masjid is over 1km away and consequently many in our community do not frequent a masjid.
- A madrassah with a structured syllabus is not easily accessible to our children. Knowledge is light and our children need to benefit from this light.
- The increase in social ills has necessitated that we become pro-active in our children’s education and moral development. We have to correct the misguidance propagated daily.
- Crime has become attractive; a place of solace and tolerance is needed to attract our children form its darkness into the light of Islam.
Our Goals
To ensure the fulfilment of our vision, we aim to embark on the following activities:
- Madrasah for adults and children
* Morning – Hifthul Qur’an
* Afternoon – Children madrasah
* Evening – Adult classes according to the needs of the community - Survey – to ascertain the extent of the needs of our community.
- Feeding – to increase love, respect and uplift the needy
- Youth activities
* Addressing the dangers of social ills and vices
* Youth skills development
* Spiritual development through experience

I invite you to ponder upon the words of Allah in the Quran: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like that of a grain of corn that sprouts seven ears, and in every ear, there are a hundred grains. Thus, Allah multiplies the action of whomsoever He wills.” (Quran 2:261) Your contribution, no matter how small, can grow and yield abundant blessings and rewards.
