We are embarking on a noble venture to build a Masjid in Silvertown that will testify to the unity, strength, and generosity of our community. Silvertown is an underserved area with a Muslim population that lacks easy access to a Masjid and its services.
With your support and contribution, we can transform this dream into reality, in-shaa Allah.
Current Activities
Alḥamdulillah, we have signed an Offer to Purchase a premises in Durant Road, Silvertown for the establishment of the Masjid. However, we still need R1 million to complete the purchase of this property.
Currently, Silvertown Islamic Community Association (SICA) operates from a rented space. The need for a permanent premises has now become unavoidable and necessary for the following reasons:
- The rented property is not a permanent solution.
- There is a growing number of worshippers, requiring a larger facility.
- The increasing prevalence of social ills highlights the importance of moral and spiritual development for our youth.
- Crime has become a growing concern, and a safe space is needed to guide our children from darkness into the light of Islam.
- The nearest Masjid is over 1 km away, making it inaccessible for many in our community.
- A structured madrassah is urgently needed for our children to benefit from Islamic education.
Our Goals
The new Masjid will serve as a hub for worship, education, and community development. Our goals include:
1. Establishing a Comprehensive Madrasah for All Ages:
- Morning: Ḥifthul Qur’an classes
- Afternoon: Children’s madrassah
- Evening: Tailored adult Islamic education classes
2. Conducting a Community Needs Survey:
- To understand and address the specific needs of the Silvertown community.
3. Feeding Programs:
- To foster love, respect, and uplift those in need.
4. Youth Development Initiatives:
- Addressing Social Ills: Programs to counteract the dangers of crime and negative influences.
- Skills Development: Equipping youth with practical skills for empowerment.
- Spiritual Guidance: Providing mentorship and nurturing strong leaders for tomorrow.
