Organisation History

The spirit of unity and cooperation has long defined Silvertown’s community. Notable examples include:

  • Bridgetown Masjid, built through a joint effort between Silvertown and Bridgetown residents.
  • Silvertown Islamic Benevolent Fund, the trust behind Bridgetown Mosque, founded primarily by Silvertown residents.
  • Silvertown residents played a pivotal role in establishing:
    • South African National Zakah Fund
    • Ma’roof Islamic Centre

These initiatives demonstrate Silvertown’s commitment to:

  • Inter-community partnership
  • Social responsibility
  • Islamic values

Silvertown’s residents have consistently come together to drive positive change and foster a stronger, more compassionate community. This commitment resulted in the establishing of a Non-profit Company under the name of Silvertown Islamic Community Association (SICA) in August of 2022.
