Organisation History
The spirit of unity and cooperation has long defined Silvertown’s community. Notable examples include:
- Bridgetown Masjid, built through a joint effort between Silvertown and Bridgetown residents.
- Silvertown Islamic Benevolent Fund, the trust behind Bridgetown Mosque, founded primarily by Silvertown residents.
- Silvertown residents played a pivotal role in establishing:
- South African National Zakah Fund
- Ma’roof Islamic Centre
These initiatives demonstrate Silvertown’s commitment to:
- Inter-community partnership
- Social responsibility
- Islamic values
Silvertown’s residents have consistently come together to drive positive change and foster a stronger, more compassionate community. This commitment resulted in the establishing of a Non-profit Company under the name of Silvertown Islamic Community Association (SICA) in August of 2022.
