Who is SICA, and what does it do?

The Silvertown Islamic Community Association (SICA) is a community organisation that aims to serve the Muslim community of Silvertown, Cape Town. Led by our Imaam and a committee of EIGHT members, we aim to support the community through activities — e.g. community events, outreach, religious guidance, while working toward establishing a masjid for Silvertown.

How can I volunteer, and what kind of help do you need?

We welcome volunteers for event support, admin/office help, fundraising, outreach and others. You don’t need any special experience — just a willingness to help. Get in touch via info@sica.org.za and let us know what you’re interested in, and a committee member will follow up with you.

Is SICA a registered organisation? (NPC/PBO)

Yes. SICA is registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and holds Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status. This means we’re subject to standard reporting and governance requirements, and donations made to SICA may qualify for tax benefits under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.

You can donate via EFT, card payments or cash. As a registered PBO, SICA is able to issue Section 18A tax certificates for qualifying donations — just include your details with your donation, or email us at info@sica.org.za, and we’ll issue a certificate for your records.
